TOMA UNICA, Super-8, 16 mm Short Films Festival, is annually held in Madrid since 2005.
This Festival proposes creative, playful and participative cinema, and has two competing sections, a wide show section and different parallel activities.

This Festival understands cinema as a creative, social, communicative, emotional and reflexive experience.

We understand creativity as the capacity to create and transmit ideas and emotions, and also as the group of experiences related to the human capacity to communicate, create new meanings and senses, create its own image and the world’s, and also its capacity of invention of the language through images and sounds, communication and perception. It also understands that, if the right conditions are met, cinema can be a collective, participative and playful event.

This Festival understands that small-format cinema has the conditions of current creative cinema, and it allows a contemporary rediscovery of amateur cinematographic tools such as Super 8 and 16 mm, with their specific symbolic and aesthetic components.
